For the aesthetic portion of this project, CDR worked with MS Consultants to create an overall cohesive, Akron-themed approach for the SR-8 twin replacement bridges and associated sound barrier walls. These massive, railroad-crossing bridges are supported by ten 60’ – 180’ piers and are adorned with custom, anti-climb fencing. Below the bridges is a hike/bike path and overlook which includes a Pride Wall, listing the names of Akron neighborhoods, and an illuminated approach sculpture, which sits above this wall, dramatically announcing the City of Akron from the roadway above.
