CDR’s “Great Map of Colorado” called ‘Crowning Achievement’ by History Colorado Center Architect, David Tryba
Imagine a 2200 sq. ft. jigsaw puzzle of sand….. That’s what it was like to fabricate “The Great Map of Colorado” for the new History Colorado Center’s atrium floor map. It took 234 – FOTERA terrazzo tiles measuring 3′ x 3′ x 7/16″ to complete the tremendously difficult task requiring over 9,000 man-hours to fabricate. These tiles had to register perfectly on all four sides so that, when assembled, they materialized into a topographical map of Colorado as seen from 400 miles in space. David Tryba, founding principal of Tryba Architects, said, ” your Great Map of Colorado adds soul to the heart of the (History Colorado Center) atrium, our state’s new gathering place.”
