Largo Sidewalk Project — 2005
This urban environment incorporates mosaic, FŌTERA™ concrete, steel and engraved brick into two miles of sidewalk connecting the Largo Town Center and the Morgan Boulevard Metro stations. 30 borderless FŌTERA™ concrete Icons symbolic of Maryland are set into the sidewalk. Brick pavers engraved with poetry, quotations and factual references spiral out from each Icon. Two mosaic walls, one that highlights the local historic figure Garrett Morgan and one that includes a 20' compass rosette mosaic in front of it, complete the design. As commuters move between the stations and to their places of business or residence, they read the passages and view the colorful mosaics and FŌTERA™ concrete Icons. The Mosaic portion of this section was fabricated by Cheryl Foster. |
